Context & Objectives
A rapidly growing mid-sized company, leader in the European in vitro medical diagnostics market, is experiencing very strong growth. It is pursuing a strategy of geographical expansion with the ambition of becoming a global group.
The Group operates logistics platforms in several countries and has begun to consider the optimal organization of its distribution logistics. An audit carried out by a specialist firm highlighted the need to strengthen coordination by creating a global Supply Chain Management position.
The Group therefore decided to call on Emerton Leadership to recruit this Director within a tight timeframe, given the urgency of the situation.
Mission
The main tasks of the position are:
- Defining the supply chain strategy in conjunction with senior management,
- Oversee all activities from procurement to distribution through resellers or directly,
- Supervise the planning, inventory management, transportation, purchasing, and sales administration teams,
- Monitor performance indicators and enhance their relevance,
- Manage relationships with suppliers and logistics providers,
- Ensure that deadlines and costs are met.
Results
The search began quickly and after two weeks several candidates were identified in Emerton Leadership's database. Other profiles were sourced on LinkedIn using internal screening methods. The partner responsible for the assignment identified 14 potential candidates and interviewed five of them in person or via videoconference, resulting in a shortlist of three candidates. An evaluation report is prepared for each of them and confidential references are taken by the Partner.
The candidates are interviewed by the HR Director of the mid-sized company, then two of them are interviewed by the Deputy CEO and the President. One candidate clearly stands out, surpassing the other two with his natural leadership and previous experience, combined with excellent communication skills. He then meets with the CFO and part of his future team. An additional reference check confirms the relevance of this candidate's selection.
An employment contract is then sent to the candidate, who accepts it. He joins the company after a few weeks. The entire recruitment process took two months, the delay being mainly due to the limited availability of the people involved.
